OPICO launch GASPARDO Precision Drills

More Gaspardo precision drills to launch as OPICO takes over distribution

At Cereals 2012, OPICO will be showcasing a new Gaspardo-branded precision drill, ahead of taking on the UK distribution for the brand in July 2012. On display at the event will be the new Gaspardo Manta MTR 8-row folding maize drill and fertiliser applicator.

OPICO also has plans to introduce Gaspardo vegetable and sugar beet drills into the UK in the near future.


OPICO’s MD James Woolway explains: “Since taking over as UK distributor for the manufacturer Maschio Gaspardo last year, OPICO has introduced several new products under the Maschio brand. These include new drills, power harrows, flail mowers and the Puma rotary cultivator.

“The Maschio Gaspardo group also has other products which may not be well-known in the UK, but which are market leaders in parts of Europe. These include a range of precision drills marketed under the Gaspardo brand.”
               
Originally, Gaspardo was a separate company known throughout Europe and the world for its specialism in precision drills. In 1991, the business was taken over by Maschio, and the company name was changed to Maschio Gaspardo to reflect this.
Historically, specialist dealer Mill Engineers has been the UK supplier of a range of Gaspardo precision drills for maize. The company is based in the west of England and has mainly served customers in that area where the crop is popular.
However, as of 1st July 2012, OPICO will become the UK supplier for the full Gaspardo precision drill range.

Mr Woolway says: “As a dedicated importer with a national dealer network, OPICO will be able to give Gaspardo machines the coverage and support they deserve, and also expand sales in other precision drilling markets.

“Mill Engineers has done an extremely good job in promoting the Gaspardo range in its area, and is renowned for the backup it provides. From July, the company will become a Gaspardo dealer, and continue to supply drills through its Claas retail outlets.”

OPICO’s David Day adds: “Gaspardo technology is right at the forefront of precision drilling. Since our Maschio dealers are already working with many of the potential customers, then taking on the Gaspardo drill range makes perfect sense, to us and to them.”
